Waste to energy

Hey, if you've got it, Ze-Gen wants it. This New Bedford, Massachusetts demo facility is taking waste, diverting it from landfills, and turning it into energy. The year-long experiment is converting construction debris and garbage into useful, high-quality synthesis gas through a process called gasification, meaning breaking down materials into gases using intense heat.

Check out this awesome new video from the Discovery Channel on Ze-Gen's process to get the details and learn more about how this nifty facility works. Kudos to my editor Tracy for this one. And here's a little insider info: she's laughing at the sign because "caution hot" is a giant understatement. It's 2,600 degrees in there!
