rosters requested

The resident today requested a roster of all the swimmers that use our pool, including their current addresses, via FOI. In addition, he requested via FOI to see all the revenues received over the past three years from MDAC, Columbus, and Reagan HS for meets, practices, etc. He forgot to request same information from MSSH, middle school, and the Rip Tides polo team, but will correct that oversight soon. It is generally believed that we received $500 from this years polo camp, but memo says we will receive $1350 for the next one. Rip Tides are reported to be nonprofit, but they should STILL pay the going rate for nonprofits. Camp is all week long and doesnt interfere with any of the other pool activities, including the swim teams, accordint to memo.

questions in need of answers

Is the Doral Swim Club a seperate entity from the Miami Dade Aquatic Club? These are excellent questions that need and deserve answers! This a great oppurtunity to shed some light on this, yet another highly questionable and very poorly managed city service. Do you think it would be helpful to know if there are ANY bills still outstanding from MDAC, the high schools, Rip Tides, or the scuba guys? How much have we received in revenues from them in the past? Where would THOSE billing invoices and deposit slips be? How much revenue do we receive for renting our pool for water polo camps? Are the Rip Tides nonprofit? How do we (Springs pool officials) document the swimming lessons level, participation, teachers, and revenues? Are kids taking swimming lessons also counted as casual users? how much is charged for swim lessons? how many total swim lessons do we give per year? are they charged whether they show up or not? what percentage are given during the Summer? the rest of the year? what was our total annual pool heating bills for the past three years, broken down monthly? Why do we NOT have a sign-in sheet, so we can verify whether to charge resident or non-resident fees? How do we document residency, or not? Who is responsible for cash taken in on a daily and weekly basis? There is much that needs explanations and understanding here. This is a good start. Lets see what the answers are.

as the pool fiasco unfolds...

Oct 13th pool records indicate 117 total team swimmers- Springs 22, Columbus 17, Krop (?) 45, and MDAC 48. Two memberships were noted for that day, netting $70. 12 swim lessons netted $20. Pool was closed until 11am, due to high pH- swim meet today noted. cash $ 84 noted on the Patti Bradley receipt as amount tendered, and paid. One adult, punch cards?, swim lessons... NO total number of patrons at the bottom.. lap swimmers 4, but no charges.. do they pay by the month? year? week ? at all? what are punch cards
? It seems the charges for each team should be based on their usage and the number of lanes they use. Is $3000 for two seasons (2006, 2007) about right for Columbus HS? Thats what they billed them. No evidence that they ever actually PAID that amount tho. Reagan was apparently billed for $1500 for 2006 season in 2007 but there is NO record of their ever paying that amount, or anything, for that matter. Rip Tides were billed for SEVERAL months but the exact number is NOT given. Any way to find that out? So they were aware that even token payments on the pool rental bills hadnt been paid over a YEAR ago. There is NO record that even these pittances were ever paid! Where would that revenue be reflected? Anywhere? There were NO nonresidents noted anywhere! Rarely more than 2-3 adults. 12/26/07 water polo camp- $500 in rentals, Rip Tides. 8 Dec 07 30 kids, 2 adults = $5 revenues? How much are swim lessons? does it matter if its beginners? intermediate? or advanced? kids or adults? 12/12/07 swim lessons $105,+ water aerobics $30+, swim team ?= $235 ? is whiting out figures a common practice at the pool? Numbers just dont add up. Period. Poor management all the way across the board.
