pool audit needed

The resident has daily log sheets from Oct 1st thru Nov 15th, plus some figures prior to that. There is NO sign of any $750 per day pool rental fees for either of the past two meets. How many meets have been held at our pool this year? Not just afternoon dual meets that MSSH or the middle school might have, because we dont charge for those- weekend meets or those that take up the whole day and eliminate any public usage during those times. County bond money doesnt require us to keep it open all year, it just means that anybody can use our pool, they dont have to be a resident, and therefore we dont have to check their IDs. Arent the admission fees for residents different than those of residents? If so, wouldnt we need some good ID to know how much to charge them? the pool isnt normally open in the Winter on Sundays, so if a meet ran Sat and Sunday we would have additional expenses, right? Overtime? Would the hypothetical $750 per day that we supposedly charge for pool rentals even cover those expenses? That supposed $750 per day we receive for pool rental would also almost HAVE TO BE in the form of a check, from the swim team to the City, no? Wonder where THAT money would be reflected, as there was NO trace of it in the daily logs that have been examined so far. The daily logs were pretty good in detailing how many swimmers were there from what teams, but was inconsistent at times. It did provide a good general picture of the pool usage on a daily basis. Six months of that good information would be even better than the six weeks already reviewed. The City Clerk has responded to this FOI in a pretty timely fashion so far. Lets see if it continues.

Meetings can, of course, be used in an attempt to deflect blame from management to the workers and discourage workers from making valid complaints. FACTS, however, are hard to argue with and what we are looking for from those who keep those GREAT records, whenever possible. All we need is some direction and we will make a FOI to request those records. Daily, weekly, and monthly logs are required, no? Those should be available from a FOI. Bank deposit slips should also be available for the cash admissions, right, along with monthly bank statements? This forum is truly an exercise in democracy and those participating are helping to facilitate a better world to live and work in, starting right here in Miami Springs. Prudent activism is whats needed here. Proxy addresses are probably a good idea. Paranoid? NOPE. Prudent. YEP. Nicely put.

Of course its a legitimate question to question ANYBODYs figures, and vice versa. It IS hoped, however, when challenged, one has facts and figures to back up and verify ones claim. Making a grandstand play for the cameras in vain hopes of intimidating residents takes the risk of exposing oneself as a would-be bully when he has NO FACTS or figures to back up and confirm his statements. None were offered then and NONE have been offered since then. Perhaps the City Manager and his assistant are imaginatively preparing those numbers even as we speak! How long do you think it would take any competent Rec Director to put his hands on those figures? Where are the daily logs? Who handles the money? Where are the daily and monthly revenues recorded? Who makes the deposits? Where are the deposit slips kept? How does anybody know how many Springs residents and/or nonresidents actually use the pool every day? How is Springs residency verified? These too, are legitimate questions for the Rec Director. When can we look forward to these answers? Is another Freedom of Information request necessary to obtain this information? The Council instructed the residents to seek information from the City Manager and his assistant before coming to the Council but Mr Gorland has refused to answer pertinent questions when requested. Perhaps the City Manager knows the answers to these questions. We shall see.
