You are right when you say the resident has issues. He has issues when connections to the Optimist Club are fabricated; issues when a roster of Springs kids on a private swim team we subsidize isnt available for inspection; he also has issues pool practice rents that were claimed to have been paid to the city for the past three years do NOT stand up to any inspection (possibly 4 months paid out of the past 36). He has issues when the City Manager tells him that, as the City Manager, he has no way of knowing what the revenues and expenses that made up the lump sum figures that he claimed in the city's budget report, were(even tho he took out an itemized quarterly report right there, in his office). He has an issue when the City pays $400 a square foot for bathrooms that should only cost $125 a square foot! He has issues when the plumbing, electrical, and sewer hookups are FORGOTTEN for the bathrooms! How can THAT happen? one expensive fiasco after another! The list of issues goes on and on.

Wonder how many of those 1371 residents who wanted to vote on annexation, want to vote on the new gym? Wonder how many of them will remember next April and be unhappy that they havent had a chance to vote on the new gym? Mr Dotson was instrumental in the Rec Center firings a while back and has been the ONLY voice of reason and fiscal responsibility on the Council! Unfortunately, he is only one voice. He needs some assistance and support from others to stop the current Council insanity. In April he will get that help from the people. In these times of ever-deepening recession we need sound fiscal policy and accountability, both of which Mr Dotson can provide in spades. He is an honest and experienced accountant with over thirty years experience, knows numbers, and when they make no sense or are being manipulated. EXACTLY what we need to stop this march FORWARD (?) right over the financial cliff. The Mayor and Council have completely lost touch with the average resident by not listening to them long ago. They STILL have NO response to the economic restrictions that our economic situation demands-they just added a 100k Director, built two bathrooms that cost OVER 400k, and allow the pool to lose 260k a year while private businesses profit, to name a few examples. They just dont care how much of OUR tax money disappears, because its NOT their money thats disappearing! THEY need to disappear before ALL our tax monies are gone. C'mon April!

The final numbers on the bathrooms appears to be a MERE $414,000. Considering it could have easily been built for 140k, including a FAT 25% profit for the contractor, one would have to wonder WHERE that extra $275,000 went? Like the $400,000 excess we paid to enclose two walls of the Country Club, a LOT of our tax monies are missing- AGAIN. Where did THOSE monies go? Why did we pay Mr Santanas electric bills? Havent we given him enough? When does the tax monies stop disappearing for freebies to private businesses and contractors? EVER? The golf course, in theory, does use well water but is supposed to meter it and pay for it. The Council is supposed to oversee the City Manager, but they dont, and because of that are just as responsible for the cost overruns, freebies, and money wasted as the City Manager. Are they worried? No. They will just raise our taxes and fees to pay for their stupidities. Larry, Moe, and Curly are in control- why are we not worried about that? Other city and county governments are letting people go, cutting their budgets, reducing their costs - we are hiring 100k Dept heads with few qualifications. April cannot come fast enough.
